Atelier consulting · Islamic banking implementation
Your Shariah board approves the structure. We make your systems run it.
In many Islamic banks, the steps that make a product Islamic are still done by hand: the commodity trade, the transfer of ownership, the profit calculation. That work sits outside the bank’s systems, in spreadsheets and separate tools. It slows down every new product. It also means the Shariah board sees the evidence late. Atelier implements the Zoral Finance Operating System (fOS) alongside the core you run. Your systems then run these steps and record each one. Your Shariah board remains the authority.
Who we work with
Islamic banks modernising around their core
Your core stays in place. Launch new products on Zoral fOS, and move existing products onto it when you choose.
Conventional banks adding an Islamic subsidiary or window
Islamic and conventional products run side by side. Each keeps its own rules, documents and reporting.
New Islamic banks and digital brands
Zoral fOS can be your complete platform, from customer journeys to the product and account ledger.
Takaful providers
We move your customer journeys, document checks and decisions online.
From the structure your board approves to a product your customers use.
Savings and deposits
Savings and fixed-term accounts run on the structures your board approves, such as Wakala or Mudaraba. Product rules handle expected profit rates, profit-sharing pools, profit calculation and distribution, maturity and early closure, without manual work. Customers also get the account information they need to work out their Zakat.
Personal finance and cards
Personal finance, cash-line (overdraft) facilities, cards and point-of-sale instalments. Zoral fOS runs the commodity trade steps behind Tawarruq as part of the workflow, and records each step. Your policy sets eligibility, affordability and pricing.
Home finance
Home purchase plans, home financing and buy-to-let, through your own channels and the brokers you work with. Each application runs from a decision in principle based on verified income and assets, through valuation and conditions, to completion and servicing.
Approved structures, turned into product rules
We turn the structures your Shariah board approves into product rules the board can read. Before launch, we run each product against simulated account activity over its full term. This includes early settlement, missed payments and changes in profit rates.
Evidence for your Shariah board
Zoral fOS keeps every product version with its approval history. Your board sees exactly what will run, and what has changed since its last review. Your teams record Shariah non-compliance events and report them from the same platform.
Integration with your core
We connect Zoral fOS to the core you run, through documented interfaces. Your core keeps the products it already runs. Customers and staff see one journey.
What we see in your market
Customers want Islamic home finance, including home purchase plans and buy-to-let in the UK. They expect the experience of the best digital banks.
In the UK, many applications come through brokers, so the broker journey matters as much as the bank’s own.
A bank serving customers in several European countries needs each country’s rules and documents, without running a separate system for each.
Supervisors focus on customer outcomes, vulnerable customers, operational resilience and exit planning for critical suppliers. In the EU, the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) sets rules for how banks manage their technology providers.
How we help
Direct and broker applications run on one platform, with decisions in principle based on verified data.
Each country can have its own product variants, documents, rules and reporting on the same platform.
Your teams can monitor customer outcomes, and identify and support vulnerable customers.
We provide the evidence your resilience and outsourcing reviews ask for.
Your data, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats. This supports your exit plan.
In each of these markets, the banks gaining ground make Islamic finance as easy to use as the conventional alternative. They can also show their board and supervisor how each product works and who approved it.
Around the core you run, traditional or modern.
Some Islamic banks run a long-established core. Others have recently chosen a modern cloud core. Either way, the core keeps the accounts it already runs. Zoral fOS adds origination, decisions, documents, servicing and the evidence your Shariah board needs. We have worked alongside modern cloud cores as well as traditional ones, integrating with them and maintaining their product configuration. If you choose, new products can run on Zoral Product Factory, which posts to your general ledger.

How an Islamic product goes live, with your board’s approval.
Your business, Shariah, risk, finance and technology teams take part at each step.
- 01
Choose the first product
Together, we choose the product that matters most to you this year, and agree how to measure its success.
- 02
Turn the approved structure into product rules
Your Shariah board approves the structure, with advice from your Shariah advisers. We configure it as product rules, documents and workflow steps that the board can read.
- 03
Test over the full term
We run the product against simulated account activity, including early settlement, missed payments and changes in profit rates. Shariah and risk reviewers see the results, not only the specification.
- 04
Board review and approval
Your Shariah board reviews the rules, the test results and every change. Your bank launches a product only after the board approves it. Zoral does not certify products as Shariah-compliant. Your board decides.
- 05
Launch, measure and add the next product
Your teams track results against your plan in the Business Outcomes Layer. Each new product reuses what is already in place.
Frequently asked questions
Shariah governance
Does Zoral certify our products as Shariah-compliant?
No, and no technology provider should. Your Shariah board, committee or adviser remains the authority. Zoral gives the board what it needs to decide: the product rules in readable form, every version and change, test results, and a record of who approved what and when.
How do you use AI, and who is accountable?
AI for Zoral helps our specialists and your teams design, check and test products faster. It is guardrailed and under human-in-the-loop supervision. AI agents do not make credit decisions. Automated credit decisions follow rules your bank approves, and accountability stays with your bank. Shariah rulings stay with your board.
Technology and working together
We already run a modern core. Where does Zoral fit?
Around it. Your core keeps the accounts it runs. Zoral fOS adds origination, decisions, documents, product rules and the evidence your Shariah board reviews. If your own teams build the customer screens, Zoral fOS can run the processes behind them.
Where does our data sit?
Zoral fOS runs on AWS or Azure in the region you choose, or in your own data centre, to suit local data residency rules. Zoral Document Fabric, which reads your documents, runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. Your data, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats.
Can you work with our Shariah advisers and systems integrator?
Yes. We work alongside your Shariah advisers, advisory firms and systems integrators. Roles are agreed at the start, and your teams approve every deliverable.
Who runs the platform after go-live?
You choose. Zoral can run and support the platform for you, your own technology team can run it, or we share the work and hand over as your team grows. Your people run the banking operations.
Which Islamic product matters most to you this year?
It may be home finance through brokers, Tawarruq personal financing at higher volumes, or a new savings product. A senior Zoral specialist will work with your business, Shariah and technology teams to find what stands in its way. Together, you agree a first step.
